Summary

Under the direction of the IJRO Director, the Program Specialist is responsible for administrative, technical, and certain research functions associated with the development and management of programs, materials, and online content.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with programs (in D.C. and virtual), including but not limited to coordinating logistics with host organizations, managing all aspects of meeting preparation, providing administrative technology support during meetings, assembling and editing program materials, and conducting program-related research;
  • Assist with the Visiting Fellows Program, including providing administrative and research support to visiting fellows;
  • Assist with preparation for international projects, including travel logistics, coordination of materials, and communication with other organizations;
  • Manage IJRO webpage and microsite, including basic web design, graphics, images, text, and content;
  • Collaborate with the IJRO Director on the design, development, and delivery of web-based resources;
  • Draft IJRO correspondence, reports, and accompanying materials;
  • Manage the IJRO materials, including Power Point presentations and translated materials;
  • Compile and maintain IJRO databases, including statistics for briefings, programs, and visiting fellows, materials, and contacts in the international rule of law community;
  • In consultation with the IJRO Director, direct and supervise the work of IJRO intern(s), including the interview and selection process;
  • Provide administrative assistance to the IJRO Director; and
  • Provide high level and confidential administrative support to the Center's Director and Deputy Director.

Qualifications

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Bachelor's degree;
  • At least 2 years of relevant internship or employment experience;
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills;
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently;
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to write clearly;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Facility with online research;
  • Ability to work collaboratively; and
  • Strong computer and technology skills, including the use of standard Microsoft Office Suite programs.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of Adobe Spark and Adobe Photoshop


Education

A Bachelor's degree.

Additional information

This is a term, one-year position with the possibility of extension at the Center's discretion. The starting salary is set at $54,603. This position falls in the Center's pay band III which has a salary range up to $102,369. For a successful candidate not currently a member of the Center staff, a higher starting salary, not to exceed $57,333, may be considered if the candidate furnishes proof that his/her current salary falls above the pay band III minimum salary of $54,603, in which case the Center would match that salary up to the starting salary limit of $57,333. This is the maximum starting salary, and it is non-negotiable. If the successful internal candidate's salary falls above the range minimum that salary will be matched up to his/her current salary.

Federal government benefits are applicable. An array of supplemental benefits is also offered including a transportation subsidy and a flexible benefit program allowing for pre-tax deductions for health insurance, health care, dependent care, and commuter expenses. The FJC is located in the Thurgood Marshall Building, conveniently situated to public transportation directly beside Union Station. The Marshall Building houses a child development center and a health fitness facility for its tenants.

The position is located in Washington, D.C. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic all Center staff are currently working remotely. The selected candidate must be prepared to resume work in the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building in Washington, D.C. when the Center resumes its normal operations. At that point, the Center provides telework options subject to supervisory division director approval.

This position does not carry the tenure rights of positions in the competitive civil service.
