Dewberry is currently seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as a Transportation Engineer/Project Manager in our Fairfax, VA office, with flexible work hours and the ability for part-time telework. This individual will oversee a team of engineers responsible development of roadway design plans for complex secondary, primary, and interstate improvements and interchange designs. Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads and VDOT criteria is required. Candidates will be working with VDOT, local counties, private developers and contractors on design-bid-build and design-build delivery projects.

Responsibilities

This individual will serve as a senior engineer/project manager, overseeing a variety of transportation and roadway improvement projects including secondary, primary, and interstate widening and reconstruction projects, interchange design projects, roadway drainage design, and conceptual design development, as well as direct coordination of younger engineers and leadership of a team of project and staff engineers. Work responsibilities may include:
  • Project management
  • Oversight of design team(s) and design plan development
  • Coordination and communication with subconsultants
  • Conceptual estimating
  • Conceptual and preliminary design development
  • Preparation of technical and price proposals
  • Coordination with water resource, structural, traffic, environmental, and survey staff
  • Preparing written reports
  • Interfacing with clients and contractors
  • Training and mentoring entry level and junior engineers


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum 8 years of transportation-related design experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of roadway geometric design
  • Knowledge of and experience with MicroStation, Geopak and OpenRoads
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic MS Office software
  • Desire and ability to work in and lead a design team
