Summary

About the Position: Serves as an Engineering Technician within the Directorate of Public Works Engineering Division with responsibility for determining and accomplishing necessary corrective actions for deficiencies and damages to facilities and all types of real property infrastructure and for the evaluation of contractor performance for facilities and municipal services contracts, maintenance and repair project orders and construction contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring adequacy, completeness, timeliness and consistency of finished projects.
  • Developing phases of project requirements.
  • Coordinating and integrating architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, intrusion detection equipment and energy management systems design.
  • Preparing requests for modification, including cost estimate (IGE) and background information.
  • Recommending solutions to procedural problems related to alterations in original proposals, changes in funding or similar topics.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) drafting software to convert the designs of engineers and architects into technical drawings and plans; and (2) assisting in preparing scale plans, contract drawings and specifications for proposed projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-07.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
