Application Database Administrator (MongoDB)Fort Belvoir, VAProvides all activities related to the administration ofdatabase schemas and their objects. Projects long-range requirements fordatabase schema administration and design in conjunction with InfrastructureDBAs in the information systems function. Designs, creates, and maintainsdatabases schemas in a client/server environment. Conducts qualitycontrol and auditing of database schemas in a client/server environment toensure accurate and appropriate use of data and permissions. Advisesusers on access to various client/server databases. Designs, implements,and maintains complex database schema objects with respect to userrequirements, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks,organization, protection and security, documentation, and statisticalmethods. Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies,development methodologies, and front-end programming languages (eg, SQL).Performs database programming and supports systems design. Job Responsibilities* Performs preventive and corrective maintenance and incident management measures. * Determines database structural requirements by working with business stakeholders, and identifying optimal database specifications. Ensures that database design and system capabilities meet validated user requirements. * Supports sequencing diagrams and process flow development, data profiling, data analysis, and logical and physical data modeling. * Evaluates the integration of new tools or technologies based on the capabilities of the existing infrastructure. * Creates advanced tests, develops complex databases, and tunes database performance, reviewing database performance trends and identifying opportunities for improvement. * Provides complex system maintenance support, ensuring that any system disruptions mandated by an upgrade or patch follow the necessary guidelines and approvals. * Responsible for planning the installation of operating systems, databases, applications, development upgrades, and new releases. * Plans and executes any needed upgrades to the software applications and ensures necessary licensing is maintained. * Establishes standards, controls and procedures to ensure data integrity and security. * Uses various databases and sources to research system vulnerabilities and potential security attacks. * Performs capacity planning and projection for future growth. * May provide supervision and input into performance appraisals for junior Database Administrators.Minimum QualificationsFive (5) years progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle, PL SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access. Also has at least three years hands-on experience and expertise in Database Schema management. Experience also shall include capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages. Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database.
