Job Description Are you looking for an opportunity to provide building envelope maintenance support to the premier research center in the Baltimore/Washington area? Do you have experience with roofing systems, glazing and building envelope construction, inspection and repairs?If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.We are seeking a Building Envelope Specialist to assist with maintaining all aspects of the building envelope systems across a portfolio of over 35 research buildings on the APL campus.As an APL Building Envelope Specialist, you will Perform regular roofing inspections and maintain clean and organized roofing systems. Collaborate with the maintenance planner to develop roofing system maintenance job plans for preventive activities.Collaborate with roofing contractors for all planned inspections and lead APL efforts to resolve all roofing system leaks.Perform building envelope maintenance activities (window-weatherproofing inspections, caulking remaining life inspections, mortar repointing inspections, etc).Be the go to person for repairing building envelope maintenance deficiencies within reasonable scope and skill set, diligently working to correct building envelope issues from onset to resolution calling upon other resources to support as needed.Manage all glass repair efforts. Solicit proposals, prepare procurement documents and follow-up with contractors for on-site glass repair activities.Electronically maintain all records on building envelope warranty documents, keep abreast of who to contact for warranty relief. Maintain all records on roofing system maintenance agreements. Coordinate maintenance agreement renewal efforts in advance of expiration You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have the skills and knowledge normally associated with the completion of a formal training curriculum on building envelope systems and 5 years' or more experience in the field.Demonstrate proficiency in the carpentry skills necessary to complete building envelope system repairs.Have the knowledge of using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Maximo;Have the ability to use hand tools, power tools and test equipmentHave experience reading blueprints, sketches, diagrams, O&M ManualsHave the ability to read, write and understand spoken instructions to install required work and independently work in both routine and emergency situations by using personal computers, schematics and plans;Have the ability to quick response on assessing emergencies with the knowledge of rules, regulations, and guidelines of applicable codes;Possess a valid driver's license and will be subject to a driving record evaluation;Are able to work the hours of 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with possible overtime and emergency call-ins;Will wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and other personal protective and safety equipment and work outside in inclement weather conditions;Have the ability to operate a forklift, Manlift, APL vehicles, industrial equipment, and lift at least 50 lbs. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Possess a State/Locale issued Masters license or equivalent in a trade relevant to building envelope systems;Are familiar with using hazardous materials, OSHA/EPA regulations, use of MSDS, respirators, scaffolding, ladders, fall protection gear, lockout, forklifts, aerial platforms, and confined space;Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or have the ability to obtain a CDL to operate a bucket truck.
