Space Ground System Solutions, a BSTG division of Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a Cloud Software Engineer on its Platform Engineering Team. In this role, you will help continue expansion of satellite ground system software to cloud infrastructure and application deployments. You will help architect and build systems containing government-off-the-shelf, commercial, and open-source software. Your ability to distill existing software dependencies, map them into modern architectures, and explain that mapping to engineers outside the platform team will be critical. **Job Responsibilities - Essential Functions:** + Automate configuration and monitoring of labs and production systems in physical, virtual, and cloud environments. + Integrate commercial or open-source tools that improve the operability of satellite ground software and SGSS infrastructure. + Develop tooling that streamlines development and QA experiences. + Assist in day-to-day system administration tasks to keep infrastructure running smoothly. **Required Qualifications:** + Minimum of five (5) years of software engineering, systems administration, or site reliability engineering. + Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science/Engineering or other relevant Engineering field from an accredited university or equivalent combination of formal education and experience. + Must be a US Citizen with an existing DoD clearance or meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearance. **Required Skills/Abilities:** + Expertise administering and troubleshooting Linux hosts and networks (load, LVM, RPMs, scripting, DNS, routing, firewalls)Red Hat experience preferred. + Expertise automating configurations with Ansible, Salt, Puppet, AWX/Tower, or similar. + Expertise with virtualization and cloud platforms such as OpenStack, AWS, VMware, Docker, or Kubernetes. + Proficient with distributed SCM systems (eg, git). Preferred Experience with: + Developing software using a modern programming language (Python, Java, C++, C#, etc.) + Monitoring systems and aggregating logs: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Beats, Sensu, LibreNMS. + Automating cloud topology deployment, configuration, and operation using Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Bash, PowerShell, etc. + Building CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, Jenkins, etc. + SQL and NoSQL databases and key-value stores such as Redis. + modern application design (statelessness, separation of responsibilities, message queues, REST, RPC) LDAP, especially within FreeIPA/Red Hat IDM. + PKI concepts and implementation.
