Job DetailsJob LocationWoodlawn, Maryland - Gwynn Oak, MDPosition TypeFull TimeEducation Level4 Year DegreeTravel PercentageNoneJob ShiftGraveyardJob CategoryInformation TechnologyDescriptionSHIFT: 12AM - 8 AM Wednesday- SundayWhat will you be doing?:Develop, maintain, and support applications, computer/network operating systems, and other system software, through design, coding, unit testing, benchmark testing, modeling, simulation, debugging and documentation;Work with some technical oversight and/or as a member of a team in a variety of roles ranging from providing assistance to assuming limited leadership;Possess oral and written communications skills to clearly and effectively convey issues, reports, and other deliverables to SSA counterparts, and participate in all phases of the SDLC, with emphasis on systems requirements, design, development/programming, documentation, testing, and implementation;Develop, maintain, and use applications in mainframe and Intelligent Workstation/Local Area Network (IWS/LAN) environments. Maintains and supports Agency applications, computer and/or network operating systems, and other system software;Perform activities such as: system software installation, configuration, testing, optimization, evaluation, maintenance, documentation, and user support;Prepare test data, tests, debugs, and refines applications software. Identify, evaluate, customize, and implement vendor-supplied software packages;Ensure accurate translation of technical specifications into programming specifications;Develop systems requirements, codes, tests, and/or implements proposed systems;Assist in translating technical specifications into programming specifications; andDesign and prepare technical/status reports and presentations.Monitor WebSphere MQ and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) applications utilizing various monitoring tools (including TEPS, Omegamon/Omegaview, Tivoli ITCAMS, CICSplex, CA Introscope, ABEND Aid) and generated reports to identify/isolate problems. Analyze, debug and troubleshoot WebSphere MQ series performance and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) problems.Identify and report Z/OS, JES3, Top Secret and other underlying system software problems. Identify and report Z/OS, JES3, Top Secret, peripheral device and file contention problems and other underlying system software problems.Monitor more than 650 CICS regions in production, training and integration environments utilizing various monitoring tools including TEPS, Omegamon/Omegaview, Tivoli ITCAMS, CICSplex, PreAlert, CA Intrsocope, ABEND Aid and generated reports to identify/isolate problems. Perform CICS system dump analysis and provide recommendations and identify and troubleshoot CICS and database problems. Investigate CICS storage violations and recommend dynamic changes to CICS region settings to correct or contain CICS problems. CICS programming using Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL), Java and assembly.Monitor DB2 and IDMS database subsystems and coordinate with other branches and teams within the division to identify and resolve issues. Troubleshoot DB2 and IDMS problems.Recognize and resolve operational problems affecting batch job processing and make changes to system software source libraries, table libraries, JCL libraries, and load libraries on an emergency basis to correct operational problems.
