Job Description

The Washington Post's Metro desk has an opening for an assignment editor.

We're looking for a versatile journalist who is comfortable with breaking news as well as analytical posts. This editor will work with reporters on each of Metro's topic teams, including politics, police, transportation, education and social issues, but will focus on Retropolis , The Post's very successful history feature. Strong news judgment, a collaborative spirit and an ear for good prose are musts.

The editor typically will work from noon to 8 pm, with occasional weekend duty.

This position is based in our Washington newsroom. Once we resume normal operations, it will not be eligible for remote work.
