Summary

The purpose of this position is to serve as a Senior Facilities Design Specialist and key member of the Facilities Management Division. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for performing a wide variety of highly technical administrative and quasi-technical duties in support of Division and Branch operations.

Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

-
Review and interpretation of consultants submissions for technical accuracy and brings discrepancies to Supervisor's attention.
- Develop specifications, estimates and scopes of work for large scale furniture procurements.
- Respond to written and oral requests for information. Answer substantive questions that require in-depth knowledge of the Facilities programs, including detailed procedural aspects of such programs. Responses to questions frequently require aspects of such programs. Responses to questions frequently requiring extensive research, information, or data-gathering by the incumbent.
- Coordinate the timely arrival of supplies, materials, parts and tools. Advise warehouse officials of inventory and quantities to be stocked to enhance the efficiency of work schedules, ensure deadlines and minimize system, circuit or equipment downtime during emergency situations.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience for the GS-09:

You must have one year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal government.
Specialized experience is defined as:

- Experience in administrative and planning operations. AND
- Experience assisting with the planning of furniture installation, construction management and building code compliance.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used.

Specialized experience for the GS-11:

You must have one year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal government.
Specialized experience is defined as:

- Experience in administrative and planning operations. AND
- Experience with the planning of furniture installation, construction management and building code compliance. AND
- Experience planning, scheduling, coordinating trades in modern and historic commercial property construction projects.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
