Job Summary/Company:

Sparks Group has collaborated with a real estate investment client and is searching for a skilled Senior Accountant. They will be responsible for technical accounting and financial transactions for development projects. They will develop and implement accounting policies; preparing technical accounting memos, developing relevant documents to streamline accounting processes related to revenue, and help identify areas for process improvements. The ideal candidate will have prior construction experience. They will need advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance regulations. Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Cost Accounting, managing budgets and cost estimates in the accounting systems
  • Manage periodic accounting close, ensuring accurate results are delivered for management reporting
  • Collaborate with project management, to obtain estimates; review and analyze costs comparing to estimates or budgets following up on variances
  • Maintain and analyze job cost ledger; ensure data integrity and examine for discrepancies
  • Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance; establish accounting process and internal control framework over newly implemented accounting rules
  • Manage monthly processes; analyze journal entries, labor allocation and third party revenue accounting reporting
  • Acts as a liaison between the company, and external entities to ensure that proper information is recorded and maintained
  • Participate in acquisition/disposition or financing processes, if required
  • Perform other job related duties

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required
  • Active CPA License or current, active progress towards one required
  • 4+ years of full cycle accounting and financial reporting experience required; supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior experience with construction, property, or development accounting preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S GAAP and SOX compliance regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge or experience with accounting systems such as Yardi Voyager preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Detail and Process Oriented with the ability to multi-task and work on several projects together
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex reports, needs and documentations
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to communicate with teams or present recommendations to increase the efficiency of the processes
