As the Financial Analyst supporting the IT function within Ciena, the individual should be customer focused, adaptable and skilled in the art of translating complex financial concepts and data into consumable information that can help organizational leaders with their decision making. This role requires strong interpersonal skills with the ability to help challenge and influence senior organizational leaders. The IT organization has embarked on a multi-year transformational journey that requires a strong analyst from the finance organization to help guide them. The individual in this role will interact with and present to senior leaders and must be able to translate financial information into meaningful business analysis. This role will assist with long term strategic plans, annual operating budgets, quarterly business metrics, and business cases for key initiatives and projects.Your ResponsibilitiesStrategy and Strategic Plan:Contribute to the development of the financial models to support the 3-year global strategic planPartner cross functionally with procurement, accounting, and other organizations to help identify opportunities for cost containment and reductionAnnual Operating Plan:Assist with the annual IT business plan development and budgeting process, as well as semi-annual outlook processReview cost center structure for IT and provide recommendations for improvement/streamliningMaintain allocation model for allocating IT costs across the organizationQuarterly Financial Review:Develop detailed financial reporting, forecasting and analysis package to support quarterly business reviews, including development and tracking of management metrics (KPIs)Facilitates expense reviews as compared to budgetsLead the outlook processMonthly Planning, Forecasting & Reporting:Financial variance analysis, and action plans to improve financial performanceDevelop and update forecasts for expense and capital expendituresReview and authorize purchase ordersReconcile HeadcountTrack project costs and ensure it is aligned to budgetAssist in monthly close process for accruals, prepaids and capitalizationProjects and Key Initiatives:Provide financial support, modeling, and business case development/analysis for major initiativesProvides adhoc financial analysis presentationsConducts multiple financial scenarios in order to mitigate riskManage cost transparency models for ITRequired SkillsStrong Excel and modeling skillsDemonstrated ability to gather and analyze large amounts of data at a macro and micro levelExcellent finance, planning and accounting skillsStrong commercial business acumenStrong interpersonal, communication and presentation skillsKnowledge of financial and ERP systems such as Oracle and HyperionExperience with financial planning software like Anaplan a plusProven ability to monitor financial discipline and accountability within a global support organizationPreferred Experience5-7 years of progressive experience in business operations in the areas of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and general accountingBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business ManagementPrevious business experience in an international organizationExperience assisting with strategy development and implementationExperience with Technology Business Management (TBM) desirableGlobal IT experience is highly desirable#LI-CNAboutCienaCienais a network strategy and technology companywith apassion to provide an experience, to you and our customers that is as rewarding as the outcome.We attract the best and brightest- those with outstanding talent, motivation, and the right attitude to contribute to our success.
