Learn more about us atSUMMARY: The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for managing all phases of cost accounting to provide accurate information for financial reporting and support of the Company's manufacturing processes. This position is a key part of the month-end close process and is responsible for financial analysis, reporting and review of standard and non-standard journal entries. The Senior Cost Accountant will analyze inventory activity and recommend and implement process and system improvements as required. The Senior Cost Accountant will primarily work with the Finance Director and the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP) to serve as a point of contact between the business and operational leaders and the Finance Department.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. * Manage all daily; weekly and monthly plant accounting, analysis and reporting and coordinate Month-End inventory costing and valuation, cycle counting, reserves and work order close processes.* Provide effective analysis and understanding of COGS actual results, budget development and variance reporting to senior management by developing insightful reporting.* Present and assist Business Unit Leaders in understanding P/L, divisional performance, cost drivers and cost forecasts.* Support financial portion of monthly business reviews and monthly business improvement meetings for designated business units* Review of month-end cost accounting journal entries and closing activities for inventory accounts.* Maintain a review of standard cost system, including bill of materials, product routings. Maintain standard unit costs.* Maintain COGS functions including inventory transactions, review unsupported inventory, gross margin analysis, and variances.* Assist in preparing capital approval forms, managing fixed assets by maintaining detailed fixed asset ledgers, roll forwards, depreciation/amortization schedules, tracking asset transfers and disposals, and asset tagging.Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. Ability to work with manufacturing facilities to implement and monitor internal controls * Drive continuous improvement initiatives and standardized systems/processes for operational efficiency and data integrity* Assist in annual budgetary process* Partner effectively with Operations team to develop and implement ongoing cost savings strategies, bench marking and incorporating best in class manufacturing strategies.Data warehouse and analytics experience desirable.MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field AND* Minimum of 3-5 years of cost accounting experience OR* Equivalent combination of education and experienceCertificates and Licenses: MBA, CMA is desirableOTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.); Web proficiency. * Ability to travel up to 20% of the time* Experience with manufacturing environment ERP systemDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Demonstrated experience as a business partner and financial leader to Plant Managers / General Manager of Business UnitsWORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
