IonQ seeks a Senior Controls engineer to contribute to the design of hardware and firmware for electronic and optomechanical systems in our trapped ion quantum computers. Responsibilities: Perform design, simulation, and testing of control hardware and firmware for applications such as laser frequency and repetition-rate stabilization, RF amplitude stabilization, and nanopositioning Develop system identification methods and system models to support control algorithm design and optimization Design simulation platforms to verify system models and control systems Work with cross functional teams to define subsystem requirements and interfaces Write test procedures, perform model and system level testing, and document test results Required Qualifications: BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and at least 10 years of related experience Strong background developing linear feedback control, feedforward control and MIMO control systems for similar applications Fluency in modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink and Python Experience implementing digital signal processing and digital control algorithms in FPGA firmware Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and optical systems and lab equipment Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
