Cohen is actively seeking a well-organized, detail oriented Tax Manager. With 6+ years of experience as an accountant with a CPA Firm, who has been identified as a leader in the tax department by providing accurate and timely tax functions in all areas while also ensuring the development of lower-level staff. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Key assistant to the directors/Principals. Enables directors/Principals to serve a larger number of clients without lessening their response or effectiveness, including the detail review of directors/Principals engagements. Acts as a reviewer to returns of various complexities, also prepares unusually complex jobs. Oversees the completion of tax compliance of filing deadlines for the managers' "responsible client list". Manages their own clients and starts a book of business. Manages supervisors and senior level accountants. Manages, supervises and reviews multiple engagements/projects. Takes ownership of multiple engagements and timely complete jobs within scope of budget. Communicates the status and progress of those engagements. Coordinates with staff and directors/Principals the overall planning and status of engagements. Manages client relationships as the point of contact for the managers' "responsible client list" providing distinctive client service through accessibility and proactive interaction. Analyzes client needs and proactively proposes solutions focusing on delivering value-added services. Begins to assist with complex consulting engagements for the managers "responsible client list". Manages the budget for compliance projects and assure efficient completion of tasks by the staff. Ability to fully execute and complete substantially accurate returns. Ability to identify complicated issues and offer resolutions. Demonstrates a high-level knowledge of tax. Maintains mastery of and helps others develop effective work paper techniques and correct documentation skills, an understanding of Firm and Department administrative procedures and processes, and the use of software (Profx Tax and Engagement, Excel, XCM, iChannel, BNA etc.). Stays up to date on recent tax law changes/proposals and researches implications of proposed changes while advising clients on related issues. Acts as a resource; provides technical tax and tax department administrative support for the staff and other team members. Ability to lead, train, track, supervise, mentor and evaluate staff. Monitors, cultivates, educates existing staff and recruits new talent. Expands initial specialty area(s) and continues to develop specialty area(s). Assists Principal with billing for the managers' "responsible client list". Takes on administrative responsibilities in predetermined areas (systems, training, recruiting, policies and procedures, etc.). Maintains business relationships in the industry and other related business associations with the goal of creating a brand name for ECC and growing their book of business. Develops and refines communication and presentation skills maintaining professionalism. Begins to promote and act like a business owner within the firm. Leads Special Interest Group(s) (if available) for their chosen niche industry. Other responsibilities as assigned. Education Requirements and Certifications: Must have an Accounting Degree (or college equivalent). Masters in Tax a plus. Must be a CPA. * * Key assistant to the directors/Principals.
