Works under general supervision.Boeing Defense Space and Security is seeking an Associate Orbit Analyst who will be responsible for maintaining established orbit design and optimization guidelines for a 24x7 operational system. Candidate will utilize orbital-based analysis tools to meet operational objectives.Position Responsibilities:Candidate will support software checkout for accuracy in meeting operational objectivesCandidate must work well in a tight-knit team environment, and have reliable work attendanceCandidate must be capable of real time support with solid skills in orbital operations (orbit determination, attitude estimation, space system visibility with ground, and anomaly resolution)Ability to collect, organize, synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings: develop conclusions and implement solutionsConsistently and pro-actively works with team members to solve complex problemsAble to problem solve in a clear and concise manner, have strong communication skills and able to work independently with minimal supervisionCandidate will support software checkout for accuracy in meeting operational objectivesCandidate must work well in a tight-knit team environment, and have reliable work attendanceThis is a variable, with a defined rotating shift schedule.This position requires an active US Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (US Citizenship Required). BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistryExperience and/or classroom training in orbital mechanicsExperience with any of the following to interpret, analyze, and develop data for support requirementsThis position will require working shift work that help cover a 24/7 posture including holidays and weekendsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience in satellite/aerospace operations environmentExperience in orbit analysis and predictionFamiliarity with Linux and WindowsFamiliarity with MatLabFamiliarity with a scripting language (ie Perl,Python)In-depth understanding of probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane/solid geometry and trigonometryDefines problems, collects data, establishes facts, applies visual and, spatial reasoning, draws valid conclusions, and conveys the information to various stakeholders.Interprets abstract variables, mathematical instruction, and derived data to form a succinct path forward.Provides maintenance and development support for software and derives algorithm requirements for data analysis to expand operational capabilities.Determines mission operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, risk definition, requirements, solution development, testing and proposed path forward.Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (eg Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (eg PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
