Senior Project Analyst
Sr. Project Analyst: The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Region General and Office Manager in the day-to-day/month-to-month reporting, analysis, compliance, and project life-cycle functions of the region's portfolio of projects in accordance with DBi's standard operating, reporting and compliance policies and procedures. This role will be responsible for leading and evolving the region's processes for the portfolio of projects: collecting, processing, and delivering relevant, timely, and accurate information used for providing strategic, financial, and operational feedback to understand how the region is performing. Coordination and participation in both the annual budgeting/quarterly forecasting processes, and the annual audit of the financial records is critical. The SPA is a key interface with other corporate departments supporting the region including Fleet, Procurement, Legal, Safety, HR, and IT departments to ensure collaboration and consistency throughout the region. The SPA is a trusted project advisor to help the region better understand its financial performance and provide analytics to drive operational efficiencies increasing profits with the ultimate objective of being a partner in improving the overall financial success of the region. SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSProvide financial analysis and process control integrity for the region's portfolio of projects by managing both the 1) Record to Report responsibilities - process and deliver to stakeholders relevant, timely, and accurate information used for providing strategic, financial, and operational feedback to understand how the region is performing, and 2) the period end close proceduresProvide outstanding customer service to field operations; partner with the Region to maximize their field time and optimize their financial reporting and analysis; ensure effective and regular communication within the region and with key corporate departments to build relationships and establish collaborationContribute to the continuous standardization/refinement/upgrade and implementation of policies and procedures, internal controls, and accounting standards for the region; eg, bid review and approval, project set up, project start up CAPEX and Internal Rate of Return, cutoff dates, billing, cash collection, etc.Ensure proper revenue recognition rules are adhered to per GAAP and Firm policies, track all contracts and billing schedules for region (in an organized and easily accessible electronic folder)Perform margin reconciliations to enhance understanding of project profitability drivers; provide budget and forecast to actuals variance analysisWork with operating teams to identify underperforming projects, assist in establishing profit improvement, implementing plans and evaluating performance against plans; track penalties and or liquidated damages (LDs)Take active role in project set up and ensure that each project set-up is being performed correctly and timely, and inform/incorporate other impacted corporate departments; work to streamline the project start up and close out procedures - to include overhead projects as wellAid in management of trucks and equipment usage/transfers/acquisitions/dispositionsAid in monitoring and reporting on Performance Bond statusContinuously engage and work with stakeholders to ensure that the region's processes and supporting technology are scalable and capable of supporting new growthWork closely with operations and other corporate departments on integrating new IT capabilities as well as understanding the associated reporting and process requirements and developing reports and metrics to meet the needs of the businessProvide ongoing training, development, and motivation to operationsParticipate in periodic calls with key corporate departments to provide feedback on existing systems/processes and ideas for continuous improvement in our systems/processesRespond to ad hoc requests as needed from the Region General ManagerEDUCATION, TRAINING, AND KNOWLEDGEBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other business related fieldDemonstrated experience as a project finance/accounting professional - minimum of 7 years, and experience with the entire Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skillsStrong interpersonal skills both verbal and written - comfortable interacting with all levels of management and personnel, and with both internal and external organizations exercising high level of confidentiality and discretionAbility to use multiple software applications to record, track, process, and report business activityGreat attention to detail while performing in a fast paced, high volume, and team based business environmentAbility to proactively identify issues and work to find an acceptable solution in a timely mannerDemonstrated track record of effectively managing change and serve as a change agent within the regionKnowledge of DBi related/similar operations and maintenance services, and or project based finance experience a plus.
