This is an exciting time to join Personal Insurance (PI) Operational Risk & Controls function at Aviva Canada! We are growing and are looking forward to adding risk professionals with strong property and casualty insurance backgrounds to our team! You'll focus on crafting and performing controls to mitigate risk exposures, including control testing, and highlighting inadequate processes and unexpected events/incidents; and implementing improvements.Purpose:Provide an aggregated view of all existing and emerging operational risks facing our $3.6B Personal Insurance business. (Working with Pricing, Underwriting & Enablement, Data Science, etc.)Collaborate with Personal Insurance leadership to develop and lead an effective and embedded risk tolerance framework for operational risks across PI Pricing, Underwriting, Product Development, Underwriting Operations & Data Science.Ensure the PI Manufacturing team has a holistic view of its control environment and will partner with key partners to build and implement remediation plans for red controls.Provide the PI team with insight into the operational risks that it faces through qualitative and quantitative methodologies.Accountabilities:Support the AVP in executing on PI Risk & Controls function mandate: implementing and embedding risk and controls frameworks across Personal Insurance and Data ScienceContribute to the development and implementation of operational risk management procedures and processes within the PI team. Ensure that the Operational Risk & Controls Management (ORCM) and risk management framework is adopted and maintained.Supervise risk and control status, by regularly reviewing controls, and assessing inherent and residual risk.Conduct checks, ensuring risks are within risk tolerance and acquire evidence of this for internal and external partners. This includes maintenance of the iCare system (Aviva Canada GRC tool) and updating evidence when vital.Provide support to ensure that operational risk reporting meets the requirements of the Executive Committee, Personal Insurance Committee (PIC), Enterprise Risk Management Committee (ERMC) and Operational Risk and Control Committee (ORCC).Partner with the business to build action plans to remediate red controls and gauge progress on the control remediation.Provide professional support as well as coordination and management of activities with regard to risk through collaboration with second line risk and governance teams and Internal Audit.Provide insights on performance of the business by providing regular risk related key performance indicators and insights.Support the business in developing robust key risk indicators (KRIs) to track Personal Insurance risk profile.Review and test all controls within the Personal Insurance team function to ensure they remain fit for purpose and document test cases and test results within iCare.Qualifications:Demonstrated experience in the property/casualty insurance industry with dynamically professional experience preferably in the area of risk management. (7+ years)Prior auditing experience or experience in crafting or assessing the efficiency of processes, systems and controls with the ability to identify key business risks.An understanding of business processes and operations, and insurance principles and practices is required.Familiarity with OSFI guideline E-21 and other operational risk management standards is required.Ability and desire to inspire change in a sophisticated and innovative environment.Solid relationship building and collaboration skillsAptitude in project management or similar organizational skills.Diploma or degree in business, economics, finance or other related field or equivalent experience.Accounting, ORM certification, CIP, FCIP, CRM designation, RIMS Fellow designation or equivalent designation is considered an asset.A graduate degree (eg MBA) will be an asset as well.Additional InformationAviva Canada is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities during all phases of the hiring process including the application process.
