For the second year in a row, American Banker named Capital Bank one of the "Best Banks to Work For" in the US Position PurposeThe Portfolio Manager is responsible for working with an assigned commercial lender and an assigned commercial loan portfolio to manage loan renewals, new loan opportunities, credit underwriting/evaluation, appropriate loan structuring, and participation opportunities. Ensures that document/financial statement exceptions are maintained within policy limits. Works with the assigned Lender to establish and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers to proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell additional loan and non-credit products to clients.Position ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with the assigned Loan Officer to develop a deep understanding of the assigned loan portfolio. Supports the Loan Officer in day-to-day tasks as required. Engage with the borrowers to build reliable professional relationships.Works well both independently and with the lending and credit teams to maintain a high quality portfolio. Attends regularly scheduled meetings to report on the status or risk rating change required for Pass/Watch credits within the assigned portfolio. Conducts appropriate financial analysis and research to underwrite new loan renewals, extensions and modifications. Analyzes and structures the renewals, completes the underwriting and evaluation process. Presents loans for approval to the appropriate lending authority as required.Ensures all required documentation is collected and maintained as required by existing policy.Monitors financial statement, documentation exception and maturity tracking reports to ensure timely response in order to resolve outstanding items due.Conducts property site visits as necessary and provides report/photos to be maintained in the loan file. Provides and assessment of general business information and other factors that would be indicators of risk. Ensures loan terms and conditions adhere to established credit policy. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, agency guidelines and organization policies.Support the Bank's loan participation desk by being an active member of the team in developing new participant relationships, create and monitor participation sales from origination through payoff. Provides timely and accurate reporting to senior management.Works with outside vendors as needed.Minimum Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of experience in a commercial lending environment with proven experience in credit evaluation, portfolio risk assessment and/or special assets.Technical Knowledge and SkillsThorough knowledge of commercial lending process including credit evaluation and underwriting.Ability to accurately interpret lending policy and apply same to the management of the portfolio.Detailed knowledge and understanding of credit and financial analysis tools and techniques.Ability to identify and quantify business risks and the key drivers of risk and focus decisions accordingly.Thorough knowledge of banking regulations and laws governing commercial lending.Strong written and oral communication skills.Strong organizational skills with ability to set priorities in a multi-task environment and meet deadlines.Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office with specific capability in Word and Excel.OtherAbility to travel within a defined market area.ComplianceIt is the responsibility of each bank staff member and of management to adhere to policies and procedures designed to implement compliance with the laws and regulations to which the bank is subject.
