Job Description Reporting to the Director and Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting and Payroll Manager provides accounting and payroll support with a specific focus on ensuring timely and effective monthly and annual financial closing, processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other day-to-day accounting and payroll needs. Responsibilities Manage monthly and annual financial closing. Manage monthly bank account and credit card reconciliations. Assist with review and processing of check requests and invoices for payment. Maintain vendor information in the accounting system and assist with the preparation of annual 1099 Forms. Assist with monitoring and processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable. Process weekly cash and check deposits, in close collaboration with Development Team. Work with HR Manager in setting up employee salaries, payroll deductions and employee benefits. Process bi-weekly payroll and act as liaison with HR Manager to ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll. Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal entries for posting to the general ledger. Maintain payroll related files and records for future reference, for audit trail and other compliance requirements. Ensure that the time and attendance system is maintained to reflect the number of hours worked, vacation hours used, and sick hours taken by employees. Assist with resolution of employee payroll issues/concerns/questions in a timely manner. Work with payroll vendor for timely and accurate preparation of annual W2s and other quarterly reports. Assist with workers compensation and retirement audits. Work with HR to ensure accurate and timely deposit of 401K, FSA and HSA funds in employee accounts. Serve as primary liaison for multi-state and federal tax and compliance inquiries and reports. Assist with annual audits and with annual tax return (Form 990) preparations. Support with the review of federal grant budgets, budget narratives and financial reports. Maintain and manage accounting and finance files and archives, according to retention policy. Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to culture of open communication and free flow of information. Participate in other projects, assignments and administrative tasks, as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience. Experience with both accounting and payroll is preferred. Knowledge of accounting standards for US non-profit organizations and GAAP. Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other financial and payroll related software experience preferred. Experience with Abila or other accounting software, and Paylocity or other payroll systems. Keen analytic, organization, high attention to details and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to develop key working relationships. Authorized to work in the US Salary Range: $75,000-$80,000.
