**This position can be performed currently from a remote location in the U.S. but will require presence in a Freddie Mac office in the future.***

The team conducts rigorous independent credit risk oversight of Single-Family and Multifamily portfolios and provides comprehensive risk-based assessments through an effective challenge process. The team recommends and implements credit risk management practices by incorporating an external and forward-looking view, promoting risk awareness, identifying interconnected risks, and leading innovative risk solutions. Ultimately, our work champions Freddie Mac's safety and soundness.
Your Impact:
  • Lead independent oversight and assessment portfolio risk management strategies and processes, including credit risk transfer activities
  • Monitor compliance with corporate risk policies and standards governing portfolio credit risk management activities, including the determination of risk indicators and risk appetite metrics
  • Identify and monitor additional risk trends, including external risk factors with potential impacts to risk in the portfolio and credit risk transfer
  • Evaluate new business initiatives, including new credit risk transfer products and evolving origination practices for credit risks; consider impact of new initiatives to portfolio risk and risk management strategies
  • Monitor and analyze overall portfolio risk exposure and provide recommendations on mitigation strategies
  • Monitor developments in the credit risk transfer markets
  • Identify and communicate significant risks and effective challenge to the Chief Risk Officer and Single-Family and Multifamily business management; monitor risk response and resolution activities
  • Build positive relationships with SF and MF counterparts and across ERM
  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or similar area and 8+ years of related professional work experience
  • Strong data management skills using SQL, Tableau or other analytical tools to query and analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations
  • Knowledge of structured finance products such as Credit Risk Transfer securities (STACR and ACIS)
  • Understanding of portfolio credit risk management and the role of the second line of defense in a large financial institution
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
