Summary

This position is located within Commander Mid- Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program . The purpose of this position is to ensure proper collection and disposition of revenues generated at the assigned facility. This position is located at Naval Station Norfolk Marina.

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES

This position may perform some or all of the following duties as assigned:

Greets and/or seats customers, answers questions in regards to hours of operation, daily meal specials, upcoming events, merchandise availability and cost. Operates a cash register, ringing sales and providing correct change to the customer. At end of shift, completes the Daily Activity Report (DAR), ensures all cash handling of reporting/securing requirements are met, verifies the amount of money collected and drops the cashier bag into the drop safe.

Secures clean linen, glassware and silverware, etc. and assists in setting tables in dining areas as needed. Sets up, prepares and replenishes salad and deli bars ensuring area is maintained inn a clean, sanitary condition at all times.

Ensures the proper preparation and display of merchandise. Receives merchandise from storage area. Inventories and verifies shipments and stock items in accordance with established stock location procedures. Continually observes quantities of stock, and replenishes as necessary to maintain established levels. Rearranges stock and displays to accommodate new, seasonal or fast moving items. Maintains sales and storage areas in a neat, orderly condition at all times.

Performs basic cleaning duties to maintain a constant and clean working area and ensure all current sanitation requirements are followed and maintained. Vacuums carpented areas, washes walls, windows, blinds and other surfaces and replaces light bulbs as needed. Maintains restrooms ensuring they are clean, orderly and sanitary - disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, urinals and toilet bowls. Replenishes bathroom tissue, hand towels and soap. Notifies supervisor when cleaning supplies are needed and reports all equipment malfunctions to supervisor for corrective action.

Qualifications

Must have the ability to understand and carry out basic verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of basic arithmetic to compute charges, make change accurately and prepare reports. Must be a mature individual and be skilled in customer service techniques, tact and good judgment.

Conditions of Employment Cont.:

This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and seasonal work lasting up to 4 months. A valid state drivers license is strongly preferred as the incumbent may be reassigned on an "as needed" basis to other facilities to cover staff shortages.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.

Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee's eligibility to work in the United States.
