Summary

This position is located in the U.S. Department of the Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management and Technology, Information Technology, Infrastructure Operations Division (IOD). The OIG is an independent organization within HUD, responsible for performing audits, evaluations, inspections, investigations, and for preventing and detecting fraud, waste and abuse in HUD programs and operations.

As the Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we remain an independent and objective organization, conducting and supervising audits, evaluations, and investigations relating to the Department's programs and operations. As a IT Specialist (IT Operations Engineer), you will:
- Design and implement processes for ensuring efficient IT operations.
- Troubleshoot/analyze computer systems to identify and eliminate performance and hardware issues.
- Communicate with staff to identify their requirements and ensure their needs are met.
- Run quality checks on products/programs to ensure optimal and efficient performance.
- Design new information and network support systems to enhance IT operations in an organization.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Demonstrated use of Project Management Institute (PMI) methods, tools, and techniques to plan, coordinate and manage infrastructure projects within defined scoped, schedule and budget; AND
- Design and implementation of procedures and controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of mission-critical business systems; AND
- Management of data centers using relational database management systems, LAN/WAN routing and switching, Active Directory, cloud computing and virtualization software and assessment of performance through IT metrics and Service Level Agreement (SLA) indicators; AND
- Administration of enterprise-wide network security components, including firewalls, internet security protocols, virus controls, encryption, and email security.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
