Summary

This position is part of the Defense Media Activity, Defense Media Activity. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as Senior Information Security Officer (SISO) for DMA, to provide senior technical leadership in the areas of cybersecurity and risk management, and to manage the day-to-day technical operations of the Cybersecurity Directorate (CSD).

Responsibilities

This position is being filled under DoD Modified Direct Hire Authority, Section 1109; PL, 116-92, dated 12/20/2019 .

As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Manages relevant security (e.g., information security) implications within the organization, specific programs, or other areas of responsibility, to include strategic, personnel, infrastructure, policy enforcement, emergency planning, security awareness, and other resources.
  • Defines and manages information technology (IT) and/or cybersecurity related programs and/or projects, or other areas of responsibility, to include strategic direction for program initiatives and activities, personnel, infrastructure, policy enforcement, emergency planning, IT and/or cybersecurity awareness, and/or other resources.
  • Responds to crises or urgent situations within the pertinent domain to mitigate immediate and potential threats.
  • Creates and maintains processes and work flows for standard response activities.

Qualifications

This position has a Basic Requirement for the 2210 series:
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate

GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.     You may qualify at the GS 14 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
    • Leading IT teams; and
    • Establishing and maintaining cyber security programs.
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

    Other Notes:
    IAW DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent must be able to obtain an IAM Level III certification within six months of the start of employment and must maintain that certification. Failure to obtain and maintain certification could result in termination from federal service.

    The incumbent must be willing and able to work overtime/compensatory time, evenings, weekends, and federal holidays. Failure to comply with required work schedule could result in termination from federal service.

    The incumbent must be willing and able to travel for 1 to 5 nights per month using commercial or military air, rail and vehicle. Must have the ability to acquire and maintain a valid U.S. passport. Failure to comply with travel requirements could result in termination from federal service.

    This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. A person convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence is not eligible for the position. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such offense.
