Summary

You will serve as an IT Specialist (Network) in the Command Information Office of Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR).

Responsibilities

  • You will act as a technical expert and advise for all network infrastructure and ensure existing telecommunications and communications inter-networking hardware are communicating properly.
  • You will maintain communication/telecommunication security, wide-area network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity connections.
  • You will develop policies, processes, and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility. and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
  • You will plan and conduct feasibility studies preliminary to acquisition or acceptance testing of applications, system software, and LAN peripherals to ensure proper configuration.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area IAT level 2 within 12 months of appointment.


Qualifications

GS-11: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Performing installation, configuration, and administration of network switches, routers, and firewalls; 2) Maintaining, upgrading, and securing network infrastructure hardware and software; 3) Conducting operational analysis and performance monitoring of the network infrastructure for optimum configuration; and 4) Troubleshooting and resolving network system problems to support the organization.

GS-12: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Providing daily technical support and troubleshooting of problems as required for all network switches, router, and firewalls; 2) Aligning configuration changes for all network infrastructure devices to include but not limited to Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches, Integrated Services Routers (ISR), Firepower Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Identity Services Engine (ISE), Prime Infrastructure, Digital Network Architecture Center (DNAC), and Stealthwatch; 3) Installing hardware and software updates as required for all network infrastructure devices to include but not limited to Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches, Integrated Services Routers (ISR), Firepower Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), Identity Services Engine (ISE), Prime Infrastructure, Digital Network Architecture Center (DNAC), and Stealthwatch; and 4) Utilizing applicable DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and making the required configuration changes quarterly IAW the STIGs for all network infrastructure devices.

Education

GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: P.H.D or equivalent doctoral degree and or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree and or LL.M degree, if related to the position being filled; OR, a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience is sufficient for meeting the minimum qualification requirements for this position.
