Job Description

The Post relies quite heavily on data-informed decision making both at a strategic and operational level. Over the years, The Post has experienced a significant increase in traffic and subscriptions across various platforms and channels. The increased data volume and velocity coupled with new sources and complexity has created new challenges. To address these challenges and gain maximum benefits from our data, we are creating an Integrated Customer Data by stitching data signals from various data sources. This integrated customer data will be used to power various marketing and personalization efforts via enhanced workflows, automations and data activations via homegrown and vendor platforms.



We are calling this initiative WaPo 360. As our Senior Product Manager you'll report to the Director of Analytics and work in close collaboration with analytics, engineering and other stakeholders in understanding the requirements, build and maintain the various data products and capabilities for the WaPo 360 initiative. WaPo 360 will have a critical and strategic impact on many aspects of the company.



Responsibilities
  • You collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to capture requirements, maintain clear and accurate feature documentation, and create user stories.
  • Define and execute a product vision & roadmap focused on data integration and analytics capabilities
  • You will work in an Agile development environment and help the product team define and document feature requirements, create and execute against release plans, and proactively remove obstacles to delivery.
  • You participate in daily Scrum ceremonies and proactively identify and help mitigate release blockers.
  • You use data and research to generate actionable insights and recommend opportunities for WaPo 360 to evolve the data and analytics infrastructure so that we build scalable solutions that can grow with us.
  • Solicit stakeholder feedback to drive platform and feature improvement of WaPo 360 projects
  • You lead through influence by building trust and alignment with clear, proactive communication about your plans, progress, successes, and setbacks.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience building/shipping technical products.
  • 5+ years as a product owner or product manager with a strong preference for experience managing data and analytics products.
  • Experience developing/launching products/technologies within one or more of the following: Cloud, SaaS, enterprise, internal tools, and/or complex Data/ Analytics products.
  • Understand the life cycle and development of data products. Experience driving product vision, go-to-market strategy, and design discussions.
  • Experience creating strategic product roadmaps, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing day-to-day technical and design direction.
  • Experience in the following: Analytics workflows, analytics products, data products, cloud infrastructure, software as a service, big data, data engineering processes, security and privacy, development and operations, or machine learning.
  • Knowledge of multiple functional areas such as Product Management, Analytics Workflows, Data Warehouse, Engineering, UX/UI, Customer Support and Marketing.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong data, analytics, and technical skills including a working knowledge of large-scale data platforms like Hadoop (or other big-data solutions), Map/Reduce, S3, Hive, Spark etc. is preferred. Working knowledge of AWS Cloud, Big Data tools and distributed data/computing tools are a plus.
