In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-2/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes work that involves: 1. Interpreting program policies and recommend solutions to public affairs issues; 2. Developing, editing, researching and proof reading communication materials.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Responsibilities
- Serve as an advisor to key staff members on organizational information needs dealing with actual, or potential, public affairs issues.
- Arrange for personal appearances by the Commander, and his or her staff to further strengthen existing relationships between the Command and other Department of the Army (DA) organizations/installations
- Plan and develop news and feature articles; fact sheets; brochures; and posters concerning policies, programs and activities for release to the media.
- Conduct a community relations program which informs community leaders about organizational programs and activities utilizing various channels of communication.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires a Secret security clearance be obtained and maintained throughout employment.
- Position requires travel away from the normal duty station (up to 20% of the time).
- A two year probationary period may be required in accordance with agency policy.
- The successful completion of the Public Affairs Communication and Strategy Course (PACS-Q) located at Fort George G. Meade Maryland within 1 year from date of hire.
- Acknowledge the control point/salary cap for this position will not go any higher than $87,301 (base) and $113,910 (w/locality).
