This position is located in the Office of Product Development (OPD) / Directorate of Product Design and Development in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP). OPD conceptualizes, defines, designs, develops, and implements new currency products so that they can be efficiently manufactured by BEP and used confidently by the American public, the government agencies that serve them and end users throughout the world

As a Program Manager (Currency Product Manager), you will:
  • Lead the development of the overall Currency Lifecycle Management Plan and have overall cost and schedule responsibility.
  • Lead the overall product development efforts within OPD following the multi-phase stage-gate banknote development process.
  • Ensure appropriate verification and validation testing occurs, and then support the successful transfer of the product to production.
  • Lead matrix management-type teams composed of personnel from various BEP offices in pursuit of program and project objectives.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Therefore it is imperative that applicants exercise candor and honesty when answering background questionnaires, especially as it relates to arrest, employment, education, finances, illegal drug use, and/or other criminal history. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience managing projects, which includes planning and requirements development, execution, resolution of issues, liaison with multiple stakeholders, and communication of results. Examples include:

    - Developing manufactured products from design, through development, testing, and transition into manufacturing; OR
    - Planning and execution of verification and validation activities for new/improved products, equipment, systems, or processes with the potential to impact multiple stakeholders; OR
    - Working on a project through a complete, stage-gated development process; OR
    - Leading a program of multiple product improvement or testing activities.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency

- Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.
