Working with 160 national brands including United Healthcare, New York Life, AT&T, and Expedia, ASI manages co-develops and oversees products, services and discounts made available by third party providers as benefits to members.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of AARP Services, the Senior Vice President, Lifestyle, is responsible for the success of products, services, and discounts made available to AARP members within the travel, dining, retail, entertainment, and technology categories. These offerings are used by more than ten million consumers annually and are cited by members as a top reason to renew their AARP membership. The current portfolio encompasses 40 companies representing 150 brands and tens of millions of consumer transactions.
Responsibilities
  • Sets the overall strategic direction for the Lifestyle line of business.
  • Oversees the management of current Lifestyle offerings and the development of new ones.
  • Accountable for meeting cost and revenue targets.
  • Manages multiple stakeholder relationships within AARP.
  • Leads the negotiation of major provider agreements and contract renewals with an approach tailored to the needs of each industry and provider.
  • Develops and cultivates senior relationships within provider organizations.
  • Works in close collaboration with the AARP Membership to ensure that member offers are compelling and speak to the needs of the AARP audience.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (MBA is a plus) with 10 + years of progressive leadership experience in one or more of affinity sales, marketing, operations, and management within a consumer-facing sector, e.g. retail, travel, dining, entertainment, or consumer technology. Previous P&L responsibility is a plus.
  • Strong relationship development and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and direct a diverse multi-level team in analyzing, planning, developing, and executing programs and products.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent judgment, strong analytical skills and the ability to turn insights into action. Demonstrated ability to understand and respond to the needs of existing member and prospective member segments that AARP aims to attract and retain.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent written, verbal, visual/presentation, and interpersonal communications skills. High energy level, team player dedicated to excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Solid and timely decision-making through a combination of analysis, wisdom, influence, experience, and judgment.
  • Success in developing staff with a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

This position is located in Washington DC. Candidates outside of the Washington DC metro area may be eligible for relocation benefits.
