Responsibilities

This is a customer focused hands-on designer and developer position that requires the incumbent to develop reporting solutions including universes, visualizations, queries, and reports using a variety of tools such as Business Objects, Tableau and others. The ideal candidate for this position should be well versed in Transactional and Dimensional modeling techniques, contribute to solutioning during design phase, guide and mentor other developers and have familiarity and experience with requirements gathering, and should adhere to SDLC. The candidate will work on multiple concurrent initiatives and should be very familiar with the concepts and implementations of Data warehouses and Data marts with deep technical background. As a customer-focused position, the candidate for this position should also have excellent verbal and written communications skills to articulate and document designs, processes, and workflows for use by stakeholders at all levels with varying technical abilities.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and deploying data universes, reporting and data visualizations solutions using Business Objects and Tableau.
  • Participating in the full systems life cycle and be responsible for system analysis, design, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and/or supporting applications.
  • Working closely with customers, business analysts, and other team members to understand business requirements to drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions by participating in sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and other agile project implementation activities.
  • Maintaining business intelligence applications including operational reports, dashboards, data visualizations, scorecards, and ad hoc reporting by adhering to best practices in BI and other policies adopted by the organization.
  • Profiling, analyzing, and troubleshooting issues against source system and data warehouse and developing unit test plans scripts to perform unit testing based on business and system requirements.
  • Performing in the role of a backup Business Objects and Tableau administrator as required.
  • Maintaining, creating accurate and comprehensive technical and end-user documentation and conduct demos and training sessions with different stakeholders.
  • Developing, enhancing and maintaining SQL, Shell, and other scripts as required
  • Assisting in developing strategic and resource plans as well as evaluation and recommendations of new business intelligence tools for modernization and other initiatives.

  • Qualifications

    Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

    Specialized Experience : Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in ALL of the following:
  • SAP Business Objects suite of tools including Universe design, WEBI, and Xcelsius;
  • Experience with Tableau and Business Objects system administration; and
  • Advanced/Strong SQL scripting.
