Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) is a multimedia, service-focused communications and marketing operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, marketing, support and execution for AARP's strategic business units.
Summary

The ICM Channel Integrator (CI), operating within the ICM State Hub, serves as the primary point of contact for providing States access to the ICM resources they need to support their communication and marketing goals. The CI strategically leverages ICM channels to develop promotional plans that combine the right mix of media and channel services (i.e., paid and earned media, advertising creative, event management, etc.) to deliver measurable results. The CI is a proactive, responsive partner, invested in the success of the States. Their actions directly help increase the impact of State initiatives, create value and time/cost efficiencies, facilitate meaningful two-way communication between the States and ICM, and ensure a consistent brand and One AARP Voice.
Responsibilities
  • Plays a key role with the States in creating and reinforcing AARP's state/local brand presence
  • Serves as the key point of contact for States in the assigned region(s) for access to ICM channels, resources and expertise, including paid, earned, social and owned channels
  • Connects State staff to specific ICM channels based on specific requests and provides integrated communications strategies for more complex assignments
  • Provides valuable strategic communications and marketing expertise by proactively participating in the annual state planning process as needed, sharing ideas, opportunities and best practices; is accountable for maintaining a clear understanding of his/her States' priorities, initiatives, objectives and goals
  • Convenes and provides strong leadership for teams representing the various ICM channels needed to execute integrated plans while working with fellow CIs to consolidate and apply learnings across all states
  • Directly project manages assignments that include paid media planning and implementation, creation of advertising/collateral templates, and assesses effectiveness of ICM resources to develop new solutions (i.e., advertising and collateral templates, etc.) to ensure that States have the resources they need to meet their objectives
  • Helps states achieve key KPIs; track and analyzes metrics to gauge success and identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborates with Brand and ICM colleagues to build national-to-nationwide bridges that help communicate AARP's mission and value by leveraging state and community channels.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications/public relations or a related discipline (or an equivalent number of years for experience and education combined)
  • 8+ years of experience in developing and executing communications/marketing/public relations plans for a variety of organizations/issues
  • Ideal candidate will have experience working in an agency, advisory or consulting capacity along with deep knowledge of branding, marketing and communications
  • Breadth of knowledge of key aspects of integrated communications and marketing, including paid, earned and social media
  • Proven ability to quickly understand and interpret strategic issues, accurately analyze information, identify key trends, prepare concise summaries, and provide quick and decisive recommendations related to complex issues
  • A strong understanding of how to support and contribute to a collaborative (matrix) environment
  • A strong client service orientation
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple groups
  • Project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish a plus
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a variety of personalities and work styles, and demonstrated diplomatic, networking and delegation skills (i.e., straight talk, active listening, negotiating, facilitating, managing conflict, flexibility, etc.)
