Responsibilities

The incumbent serves as the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO), Department of Commerce (DOC), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for NIST & NTIS which resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland and will advise leadership across the bureau on all financial management and budgetary matters. The incumbent will oversee an integrated agency accounting and financial management system including; financial and non-financial audits, financial operations, financial reporting and policy, management policy, internal controls, and enterprise risk management. The incumbent will oversee and manage the day to day activities for the policy, audit liaison, and information coordination functions within the CFO Office.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 (ZA-IV at NIST) level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience providing leadership in the development, integration, management, analysis, strategic planning and direction of all financial, budget and administrative activities. Applicants must also have experience managing risk and monitoring internal controls.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
