The Platform System Manager has the opportunity to collaborate with agile teams, working within a DevSecOps environment using the latest and best industry practices for architecture, software development, and automated CI/CD pipelines. The applications being developed are mission critical, and essential to national defense.

  • Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
  • Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems
  • Serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues
  • Make recommendations for hardware and software purchases
  • Interact with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff
  • Conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
  • Work closely with project teams to deploy new solutions for proof-of-concept efforts
  • Independently design, assemble, configure, install, maintain, and tune complex infrastructure components
  • Assist in the adoption of Cloud infrastructure platforms and the integration of a hybrid architecture
  • Develop integrated system designs and specifications
  • Debug and correct complex internal and external infrastructure problems
  • Document step-by-step procedures and system configuration for use in ongoing support and future efforts that require modifications or upgrades to the infrastructure
  • Assist in the adoption of Cloud infrastructure platforms and the integration of a hybrid architecture
  • Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications, and training users
  • Responsible for leading the day-to-day support of server services, operating systems, and physical and virtualized servers
  • Responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network related interfaces on servers
  • Perform configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting and does analysis of alerts on servers
  • Work with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with serves that are affecting other services
  • Plan, design, and implement necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies and procedures for server systems
  • Lead automation efforts to reduce repetitive processes to streamline support
  • Create, maintain, and manage Disaster Recovery Plans for physical and virtual servers
  • Mentor team in technology to allow them to be knowledgeable and self-sufficient
  • Work with manager in understanding and optimizing team performance
  • Advocate continuous process improvement
  • Identify needs and investigate solutions of tools in providing enhanced support
  • Ensure architecture is reliable, flexible, and integrated and anticipate future needs, including future hardware/software needs and meet future business based on customer requirements
  • Lead reviews and analyze performance metrics to optimize environment for efficiencies
  • Identify additional improvement and performance metrics
  • Lead large sized continuous process improvement efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Secret clearance required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with Agile Development.
  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with client architecture and performance optimization tools in the mobile space, preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional debugging and problem-solving skills, both individually and in a team.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • A Subject Matter Expert understanding of server based operating systems is required.
  • Ability to apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals, including technical and non-technical staff and IT leadership.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and lead team plans for upgrades and system enhancements.
  • Demonstrated ability to write policies, procedures, and create system documentation.
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies.
  • Must have hands-on experience developing, deploying, and supporting large-scale enterprise server solutions,
  • Ability to ensure the infrastructure is reliable, flexible, integrated, and anticipates future needs.
  • Ability to show initiative on assignments, exercise independent judgment, and professionally execute projects with minimal direction.
  • Ability to utilize skill set to help more inexperienced team members be more agile.
  • Ability to handle sensitive one-on-one conversations effectively about controversial issues with diplomacy and tact.

  • Ability to configure, execute, and maintain security compliancy processes and policies with expert level knowledge.
  • Subject Matter Expert for physical and virtual servers.
  • Expert knowledge of access, permissions, and security that gives clients access to the data they need, to perform their daily activities.
  • Ability to handle all levels of support.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert in researching and troubleshooting complex technical issues and the ability to communicate statuses to server team, manager, stakeholders, and IT leadership.
