Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Nutrition and Food Studies

The George Mason University Department of Nutrition and Food Studies invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position. About the Department: At the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies, we develop solutions on individual, community, and policy levels to help children and adults healthier lives. We take a comprehensive approach to nutrition, addressing accessibility, sustainability, and other food studies factors. The diverse expertise of our faculty mirrors the types of knowledge students need to be successful in their careers, which helps students in our programs learn how to address food challenges in holistic, sustainable ways. The Department currently offers an MS degree, and is in the process of offering an MS-RDN certification.

About the Position: The Department of Nutrition and Food Studies is seeking an outstanding faculty member with a demonstrated research track record in an obesity-related or food studies-related area. A community focus is also desirable. The incumbent will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates with established extramurally funded research, an established trajectory of refereed publications and prior teaching are preferred. This position complements the Department's programs and the College's planned transition to become a college of public health in the near future. The appointment will begin August 2021, though other starting times may be possible. This is a full-time (9-month) position.

Responsibilities * Teach and mentor students at undergraduate and graduate levels; * Maintain an extramurally- and intramurally-funded research program; * Engage in professional service.

Required Qualifications: * Doctoral degree in a nutrition-related field.

Preferred Qualifications: * Post-doctoral training experience; * Clinical credentials a plus (MD, RD, etc.); * Strong interpersonal, writing and presenting skills; * Proven ability to obtain external funding for research; * Experience/Familiarity with online teaching.
