Job Description

Washington Post is looking for an associate audio producer to join the Washington Post Creative Group. The audio producer will assist the audio-video team throughout the production process of branded audio executions, ranging from pre-roll ads to audiobites that live within digital executions to long-form podcast episodes. We are looking for an Associate Producer who can work end-to-end on these projects, from ideation and conceptualization, to audio capture and recording logistics, to post-production oversight, editing, and finishing.

The ideal candidate will be curious, ambitious, imaginative and a collaborative team player. When faced with a new challenge or brief, they dig deep and find solutions and approaches that enable the creation of best-in-class and engaging audio content across all platforms, including digital, streaming, social, and experiential. They'll wear many hats, ranging from research, casting, and all aspects of scripting and pre-production planning, to assisting on-set at recordings and stewarding audio assets through to post-production and launch.

What you'll do:
  • Work in collaboration with Senior Producer, as well as Creative and Design teams, to execute audio productions that address our partner's business goals while remaining authentic to the Washington Post brand
  • Develop, pitch, and write up audio concepts, loose scripts or storyboards, and pre-production treatments
  • Research key background subject matter, conduct casting pre-interviews, and provide talent one-sheets
  • Assist in onboarding and briefing production teams on production objectives and story beats
  • Coordinate travel and/or any recording-related logistics, including location booking, call sheets, and talent releases
  • Construct paper edits, conduct audio editing and mixing, collaborate with team on rough cuts, and ensure that final audio productions are aligned with brand and WPCG strategy and best-in-class storytelling
  • Steward all assets through the post-production process, with attention to staying on deadline and within scope, and coordinating delivery to program managers and/or social media managers

Who you are:
  • 3+ years of experience working in audio production or marketing content development
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills-ability to perform in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, and think quickly and strategically to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong research and writing background, as well as experience with building narratives through audio storytelling
  • Best-in-class communication skills when developing and producing projects
  • Ability to see multiple projects as a whole and ensure that all parts are moving well
  • Self-motivation and ability to proactively find solutions and/or provide ways to further enhance digital and audio productions
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines
  • Extensive audio editing (including, composing, mixing and mastering) experience a plus
