Senior Business Analyst - McLean/New York City

Unlike many other banks and financial services competitors, the Senior Business Analyst role at Capital One truly sits at the center of finance, data, product and technology. As a Senior Business Analyst within Capital One's Commercial Bank, you'll work closely with senior leaders, technologists and partner teams across the enterprise to develop data and technology driven insights to our business's most pressing issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Hires are expected to be well-rounded and inventive problem-solvers comfortable addressing ambiguous questions, executing sophisticated analyses and presenting recommendations to senior leaders. A focus on teamwork and building long-term trusted partnerships, both within the team and beyond, are essential to success. Strong interpersonal skills, poise, a sense of humor, and a willingness to roll up one's sleeves and tackle diverse challenges as they come are invaluable in this business. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic & analytic orientation : A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on data analysis and intellectual rigor

Business analytics & forecasting : Analyze business performance, investigate variance, frame up risks and opportunities, anticipate future outcomes, make recommendations and influence leadership

Quality and clarity : Pursue standardization and clarity around how we analyze data, and support improvements in our data infrastructure to be more robust and reliable. Deliver error-free work and crystal clear insights to enable rapid response efforts and efficient decision-making.

Product : Develop and implement new product and business strategies for how we monitor, report on, analyze, and go to market

Credit Risk : Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future commercial credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis

Marketing : Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go-to-market strategies

Strong executive communication skills : Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills

Learning Agility : Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. This includes an eagerness to pick up new skills including SQL, Python, Tableau and Databricks, and to balance scrappy ingenuity with disciplined structure and automation.

Clear results orientation : Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. Be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment. Employ agile project management or rigorous SLQ2CQ routines to effect change across the organization.

Foster a collaborative culture : Champion our culture to enable all associates to deliver career-defining successes and exceed our goals in an open and welcoming environment. Lean in as appropriate to support partners and peers drive highest business priorities.

Travel required

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 1 years of experience in analysis


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Computer Science, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, or Engineering)
  • At least 1 year of experience in SQL or Python or Data Visualization
  • At least 2 years of experience in business analysis
  • At least 2 years of experience in financial services
  • At least 1 years of experience in consulting
  • At least 1 year of experience in senior leadership communications
