Audit Manager - Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk

Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Audit Manager who will assist in the development and execution of the audit plans for assurance coverage of Capital One's Finance business. As a member of the Finance Audit team, the candidate will primarily focus on audits relative to market risk, counterparty credit risk, and other risks in Treasury and Balance Sheet Management from both 1st and 2nd lines of defense view. As part of the broader Audit team, the candidate will also lead or contribute to other audits as determined through audit planning processes. The Auditor Manager is expected to identify areas of risk and possible opportunities to improve efficiencies. Further, the Audit Manager will also support Audit to maintain key business partner relationships, stay abreast of evolving industry practices, and regulatory expectations in the audit subject area. The Audit Manager will act as a liaison with other Internal Audit groups, including the annual assessment of the Risk Management program. The candidate will also provide training and coaching to team members on assignments, and the broader Audit team.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads audits or significant components of audits, primarily within market risk, counterparty credit risk, and other risks in Treasury and Balance Sheet Management from both 1st and 2nd lines of defense view.
  • Annual planning, risk assessment, and scheduling of Audit universe.
  • Develop engagement planning documentation to communicate rationale for scoping decisions, and develop the audit program to ensure adequate coverage of risk.
  • Communicates audit scope, issues, risks, and recommendations to management in written reports and oral presentations.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationship with key business partners
  • Coordinate with and support Line of Business Audit teams in the planning and execution of audit assessments.
  • Designs and executes internal control testing for audits, demonstrating a degree of audit expertise consistent with experience level. Understands the broader context and implications of the various risks affecting the business. Identifies and implements efficiencies in executing test work.
  • On audit engagements facilitates teamwork, coordinates and leverages available resources to complete engagements on time. Builds and utilizes relationships outside the immediate audit team to improve overall quality.
  • Delivers appropriate, succinct and organized information, tailoring communication style to audience. Effectively reviews and compiles relevant, material findings and recommendations into readable and concise audit reports. Communicates complex results and implications, incorporates different perspectives into deliverables. Effectively communicates audit process scope, protocol, issues, risks and recommendations to clients during kick-off, periodic status updates, and exit meetings.
  • Assesses relevancy of audit findings, potential exposures, materiality, improving or deteriorating trends, and demonstrates awareness of big picture issues. Interprets business priorities, anticipates issues and obstacles, and applies to scope of role.
  • Manages timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including audits, projects, special assignments, and administrative activities. Demonstrates the ability to successfully meet deadlines.
  • Supervises and coordinates work assignments amongst audit team members. Provides timely feedback and coaching to audit staff.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in responding to changes in assignment and job responsibility.
  • Leverages specialized knowledge and skills, providing management with insight into their area of subject-matter focus.
  • Leverage available data and analytical tools during the planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases of audit delivery

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in auditing, projection management, market risk management, credit risk management, counterparty credit risk management, capital markets, banking or the financial services industry, auditing, or a combination


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Finance, Master's Degree in Economics, Master's Degree in Business Administration, Master's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree in Auditing, Master's Degree in Information System
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Management Certification (FRM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or a relevant certification
  • At least 3+ years of experience in leading audits and performing in the role of auditor-in-charge
  • At least 3+ years of experience in assessing risk management policies and procedures that are designed to monitor and manage Market, Credit, Liquidity, Foreign Exchange, and Operational Risks
  • At least 2+ years of regulatory compliance experience (CFTC, FINRA, FRB, OCC)
  • At least 1+ years of experience with data analytics tools in support of internal audit
