One of which is the Clinical Supervisor who s upports the planning, operations, and?clinical?staff f or COVID-19 POD (Point of Distribution) vaccination efforts and manages the vaccine cold chain and in ventory for the PODs , ensures best practices in vaccination, and monitors medical safety and systems to ensure safe vaccination administration.

The Opportunity - Examples of Duties

  • Act in the role of clinical subject matter expert and problem solve any issues related to the clinic area, vaccines, medical questions, and medical safety issues.
  • Manage clinical setting: inventory tracking, cold chain storage, clinical guidance documents, daily briefings, safety protocols.
  • Update vaccinators on current clinical guidance and apply guidelines as appropriate.
  • Prepare and conduct a daily clinical briefing to Vaccinators and Vaccinator Assistants to describe roles, procedures, and updates on quality assurance measures


  • Provide written guidance and procedural documents to clinical staff
  • Monitor and ensure that Vaccinators and Vaccinator Assistants are implementing best practices in vaccine administration, safety, and efficiency.


  • Oversee and work as a team with deputy clinical supervisors to prepare and distribute vaccines to Vaccinators and ensure that no doses are wasted at the end of the clinic.
  • Ensure that all Vaccinators and Vaccinator Assistants are trained on all types of vaccine administration and are updated on any procedural changes or safety issues.
  • Oversee cold chain management protocols are followed for transporting vaccines and for off-site use.
  • Work with other POD supervisors to problem solve issue that may arise.
  • Provide final inventory count of vaccine for daily inventory tracking.
  • Oversee emergency occurrences and ensure that proper protocols are followed and appropriate client safety event forms are completed.
  • Seek guidance from Health Department physicians when needed for unique clinical situations


The Ideal Candidate

To be minimally qualified for this position all applicants must have understanding of immunization s and cold chain management experience; recognized by Virginia Department of Health as eligible to provide COVID-19 vacc ination; and must be licensed in the State of Virginia and have 3 years of supervisory experience.

Examples of the types of licenses that will qualify include licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician’s Assistant (PA), Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D), Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).

To be considered an ideal candidate, applicants must possess the above as well as: attention to detail; ability to multi-task; is flexible and functions well under stressful pressured situations; ability to problem-solve independently; ability to anticipate future needs of staff and clients and take the initiative to address those needs; excellent communication skills with colleagues; and high-level customer service skills with the public and community organizations . Medical Reserve Corps experience is preferred.

Notes

*Please note that this is a 60 day temporary position with the possibility of an extension.

Schedule:

Typically 7:30AM-5:30PM. Days variable and will include weekend days. Total hours per week may range from 10-40 hours. Preference given to individuals willing to work multiple shifts per week and up to 40 hours. Must be flexible with work schedule, as hours and days are subject to change depending on vaccine availability.

Training:

Will receive training in Incident Command Structure (ICS) and following chain of command, HIPAA compliance, Biosafety and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and POD (Point of Dispensing) structure and procedures. Will need to complete online training relevant to COVID-19 vaccination, and complete an in-person skills check.

Will be fit tested and wear an N95 respirator and face shield or goggles in a clinic setting.
