Senior Accountant Summary The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for the management of incoming funds; the accuracy of information posted in the Deltek-Costpoint Accounting System, and will support the Assistant Controller with the accounting, bookkeeping, month-end close and handling of day-to-day operations of the Accounting department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitors banking notifications for any incoming wires, ACH payments, and returned electronic payments. Prepares cash receipt to record incoming checks, ACH, wire and online donation. Posts subsidiary and general ledger transactions (ie, Accounts Receivable) in Deltek Costpoint. Reviews the adequacy and accuracy of supporting documentation and ensures the proper accounting treatment is applied. Maintains the Purchase Order module and prepares monthly reconciliation schedules. Reviews and ensures all deferred revenue accounts are reconciled on a quarterly basis. Prepares and submits SF-425 Federal Financial Reports for federal cooperative agreements. Coordinates the submission of charitable registration forms for the Foundation. Assists in the execution of fiscal year-end closing tasks and the preparation of audit work papers/schedules. Assists in the preparation of the annual Form 990. Performs other special projects and duties as directed and assigned. Month-end Responsibilities Performs month-end closing tasks as assigned. Reviews and ensures all investment accounts are reconciled. SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develops new processes where needed to improve existing processes. Provides input into the update of the Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS) Bachelor s degree in relevant discipline required. At least five years relevant accounting experience. CPA/CPA candidate strongly preferred. Experience with Deltek-Costpoint strongly preferred. Proficiency in Excel and Word are required. Non-profit and/or Uniform Guidance/2CFR experience preferred. Strong leadership skills. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong interpersonal skills.
