Danaher maintains a portfolio of early-stage private company minority investments through its wholly-owned corporate venture capital fund, its investment in limited partnerships ("LP's") and Limited Liability Companies ("LLC's") and strategic minority investments by its operating companies. The candidate for this position will be a critical member of the finance team and a principle financial and technical accounting advisor to our businesses and senior management. The candidate for this position will play an important role in maintaining and tracking of this portfolio.The candidate will work closely with Corporate Finance, Corporate Development, and LP and LLC management, and will be a key point of contact for platform management and Opcos in regard to accounting and reporting issues. Career progression opportunities exist within the finance groups of our OpCos, our corporate venture capital fund, corporate development as well as the corporate finance group in financial planning & analysis and controllership roles.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Evaluates and proposes initial accounting for early-stage minority investments, convertible debt and equity method investments and LP/LLC activities.* Reviews portfolio investments for impairment indicators and fair value adjustments arising from new financing rounds and makes recommendations on accounting.* Partner with Corporate Development to address technical acquisition-related issues and facilitate transition of such matters and due diligence findings to Opco management.* Facilitates purchase price allocation studies performed by third party valuation firms and other valuations at newly acquired businesses.* Plays pivotal role in establishing standard work related to:* Accounting for acquisitions and investments* Acquisition integration* Partners with Acquired company management to prepare and review post-acquisition opening balance sheets.* Interface with external auditors on review of opening balance sheets and valuations.A successful candidate will also demonstrate:* Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including a metrics-driven approach to decision making* Proven track record of critical thinking, strategic mindset, solid business acuity and execution for results.* The ability to effectively communicate with and successfully influence senior level management, executives, key clients, and stakeholders at all levels in a matrixed environment.* The ability to conduct detailed business and financial analyses to identify potential problems, determine root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.* Solid organizational skills, detail orientation, and the ability to manage competing requests and prioritize on a real-time basis in a fast moving, ever changing environment.* The ability to make tough, difficult accounting and financial-related decisions.* Commitment to operating in a way that never compromises ethics and integrity and will be non-political in all dealings with agendas that are above board and understood by all.* Skills: Leadership and influence, critical thinking and decision-making, effective communication, strong customer focus, quality & compliance oriented.* High degree of initiative, self-discipline, and motivation and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.QUALIFICATIONS:* BS or BA Degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA is required.* 7+ years experience in a large international public accounting firm and/or Fund Administrator (Fund or Audit experience required) is required.* Expert knowledge in:* private equity valuation practices under ASC 321, including application of the Fair Value Measurement Alternative.* accounting for minority stakes in LPs, LLC's, convertible debt, and equity method investments.* acquisition accounting under ASC 805, including experience performing or auditing third party purchase price allocations, contingent consideration, call/ put options, and fair value adjustments to inventory and deferred revenue.* Advanced experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.* Strong global business perspective with understanding of a multinational organization with multiple business units is preferred.KEY RELATIONSHIPS:* KEY RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Vice President - Corporate Controller with significant interaction with the Chief Accounting Officer, Finance, Director - M&A Finance, and OpCo CFOsDanaher Corporation and all Danaher Companies are equal opportunity employers that evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other characteristics protected by law.
