A Washington, DC-based national research, evaluation, and web development firm is seeking a Social/Digital Media Communications Specialist with public relations, strategic communications, brand management, and data analysis experience to support a Department of Health and Human Services project within The Family and Youth Services Bureau. The role will cross all aspects of brand management, internal and external communications, and developing social media and digital campaigns to raise awareness of the program among stakeholders and target audiences. The Communications Specialist will coordinate with project leadership within DSG and key stakeholders outside of DSG, including the federal clients.  The Communications Specialist will work to develop timely, digital content appropriate to targeted media channels. They will be responsible for developing strategic social media-marketing plans and digital communication assessments; outlining social media content calendars; assist with writing content for web, print, and social media; designing branded marketing materials for web and print; and evaluating previous and current digital efforts to inform future engagement.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and 5 or more years of relevant marketing/advertising and/or brand management work for government clients (previous work with the Administration on Children and Families or DHHS is a plus)
  • Experience in quantifiably increasing digital engagement from target audiences and key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the fields of homeless and/or runaway youth and human trafficking preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of a complete communications cycle, including target audience and messaging performance evaluation
  • Experience in editorial and social content planning and creation, knowledge of AP, GPO, and VA writing styles
  • Proficiency in major social platforms, social campaign planning, cross-promotion, and performance assessment
  • Proficient in strategic message creation 
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated experience in coordinating across teams and managing simultaneous projects with tight deadlines. (Social Marketing around events is a plus.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
