Facilities Management at the University of Maryland College Park seeks a qualified mechanic to monitor the operations of fixed HVAC equipment and distribution systems in mechanical rooms. Some of the duties of the position include cleaning and/or maintaining condenser water tubes on centrifugal and reciprocating chillers, cooling tower tanks, sumps, screens and spray nozzles and cleaning water coil fan assemblies. Performing necessary maintenance on unitary air cooled HVAC equipment. Identifying and isolating mechanical/electrical problems and planning and executing necessary repairs. Performing regular required preventative maintenance on pumps, motors and shaft bearings; and, changing filtration systems on various air conveyance systems
QUALIFICATIONS: All applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED; a valid Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points; and have a minimum of six years related experience. Levels 1 and 2 CFC certification required.
SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary based on qualifications and experience. Position is Essential and subject to 24-hour/day, 7-day/week span of operation. Benefits include health, dental, vision and prescription insurance plans, tuition remission for employees and dependents, and participation in the State pension system.
