Summary

OPPORTUNITY: The AO is seeking applicants for its Internship Program. The opportunity is intended to provide valuable work experience for students interested in a public service career. The student will have an opportunity to improve his or her writing, research, analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer-service skills.

Responsibilities

The AO is committed to attracting the best and brightest applicants in our support of the Third Branch of government. We take pride in serving the Judicial Branch and supporting its mission to provide equal justice under law. This is a virtual internship. Student will be working remotely.

The Facilities and Security Office (FSO), welcomes students working for academic credit, as well as those seeking an internship for career-related training. The intern will support the Administrative Services Division.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) plan updates to include workstation layouts and project log updates to assist project managers;
  • Assist with the progress tracking, updating, and close-out inspections of projects;
  • Conducting research and assisting with special projects and day-to-day operations; and
  • Perform general office tasks.

  • All new AO employees will be required to complete a FBI fingerprint-based national criminal database and records check and pass a public trust suitability check.
  • A background security investigation is required for all selectees. Appointment will be subject to a successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. A background security reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time.
  • All new AO employees must identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.


  • Qualifications

    Basic Qualification Requirements: Qualifications for the AO Internship Program positions are closely related to the criteria established for executive branch positions by the Office of Personnel Management. Internship positions are classified and paid under a broad-banded system. Salary is set commensurate with educational background and experience. Demonstrated relevant work experience will be credited.
    • Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student in either an undergraduate or graduate level program.
    • Applicants must have completed at least one year of undergraduate education beyond high school.
    • Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED).
    Additional Qualification Requirements: In addition to meeting the BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS, applicants must also:
    • Have the ability to work well in a team environment.
    • Have very strong communication and reading skills and be detailed oriented.
    • Have a working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
    • Have excellent writing skills, reading and interpersonal skills, and be able to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
    • Be proficient in AutoCAD.


    Education

    School Affiliation: All students in the AO Internship Program must be enrolled in an accredited school, and must be working toward a degree, diploma, certificate, etc. on a full or part-time basis.
