Responsibilities This position is a critical role on a dynamic team that designs, implements and supports Windows Server infrastructures. Primary Role Provides technical thought leadership for implementation of security related guidelines/requirements as established by government policies. Provides technical thought leadership for Windows systems and is accountable to define, maintain, communicate, and implement standards consistent with established infrastructure architectures and strategies Ability to understand and analyze technical problems and develop workable solutions in a high pressure environment. Shift, overtime or on call requirements at times. On call duty for one week every 4 months. Qualifications Understanding of IT security and implementation of established government security related guidelines and impact on IT infrastructure. Must have a thorough understanding of core infrastructure disciples commons to Windows such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policies, clustering technologies, MS System Center technologies, (etc ). Firm understanding of virtualization technology (Microsoft based preferred), and SAN technology. Firm understanding of technologies/methodologies related to disaster recovery, backup strategies, (etc ). Must be proficient in server hardware technology and provisioning of servers. Must demonstrate problem solving ability across an integrated, multi-server environment Ability to work independently and research/resolve technical issues and solutions Prior hands-on experience implementing technical solutions to include: Identifying the problem, Research/investigating potential solutions, Testing potential solutions, Providing recommended solution, Implementing solution (including documentation) Experience with highly complex system implementations and processes Skilled at performing multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to understand and analyze technical problems and develop workable solutions Good communications skills, both verbal and written Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of individuals and personalities, communicating confidently with customers, and describing complex systems in effective, articulate terms to others with a wide range of technical proficiency Specific Required Project Skills: Experience with the following IT technologies: IT security DHCP DNS Active Directory Group Policies Software Patching Virtualization MS System Center Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.
