Under the supervision of the Finance management team, perform routine accounting and finance functions with a high degree of accuracy, accountability, autonomy and confidentiality. This Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for Foundation accounts payable, expense reporting and bi-monthly payroll processing. In addition, this position will participate as a key resource in the recording and tracking of the annual operating budgets, annual Foundation compliance reporting (990 and 1099 forms), and other duties as assigned by the Finance management team. Key Responsibilities: Execute the Accounts Payable processes, including daily invoice processing, tracking contract obligations and spending limits, payment processing (checks, credit cards, and electronic payments), maintenance of 1099 information, and required annual vendor reporting. Expense management, including proper coding, processing, and reconciliation of corporate credit card accounts and spending. Prepare bi-monthly payroll submissions, including adding new employees, and making any other payroll related changes. Month end closing processes including preparing and posting journal entries, maintenance of fixed assets, depreciation and prepaid expense schedules, and reconciliation of general ledger and bank accounts. Assists in the recording and processing of donor invoices including submission of funding requests and the subsequent recording of cash receipts and other payments. Budget vs actual variance reporting including report generation and coordination with department senior staff to document variances in spending. Year-end audit assistance, including preparing financial audit schedules Other duties as assigned to assist in meeting department and Foundation goals and deadlines. Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with four years of experience in a not-for profit environment preferred but not required A combination of experience and education (ie advanced degree, CPA certification) will be considered. Technical experience with spreadsheet programs, general ledgers reports and financial management tools. Experience with Accounting Software such as Blackbaud's Financial Edge and Payroll systems such as Paychex / ADP. Knowledge of fund accounting principles, practices and regulations. Strong organizational skills are highly desirable as is experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information. Ability to prioritize work with careful attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively with others and to communicate financial information effectively, both orally and in writing. PI130847766
