The Master Electrician/Engineer plans and performs installation, inspection and repair duties necessary in wiring circuits and other parts of the electrical systems. Duties include maintaining and correcting problem situations on various types of equipment, circuits and the maintenance and operation of the electrical distribution system, and its components of the Hospital. Provide to the Hospital the electrical permit capability to undertake projects which are assigned to the Engineering Department. Work under the general direction of the Manager, Facilities Engineering, or designee. Pay & Benefits: In addition to salary, the benefit package includes paid major holidays, vacation/sick time, health & dental insurance, and 401(k) Responsibilities Completes assigned duties and responsibilities in a timely manner, or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task. Repairs, installs, replaces and test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances, including: power distribution panels, starters, motor control panels, circuit breakers, transfer switches, emergency generation systems, pneumatic tubes systems, transformers, motors, isolated power systems, etc. Assists in performing fire alarm testing and quarterly sprinkler system analysis. Maintains records of same reporting to engineering supervisor for inclusion in utilities program. Cuts, bends and installs electrical conduit and wire. Maintains interior and exterior lighting. Immediately identifies, sequesters and informs Director of Engineering of any malfunctioning equipment. Strives to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures. Assist in the accomplishment of electrical systems and installation of new systems in accordance with approved plans and local electrical codes. Assist in the development and documentation of electrical inspections of all electrical devices in use in the Hospital. Maintains the electrical distribution system and all related electromechanical equipment in a safe and efficient operating condition. Load test emergency electrical system monthly as required by JCAHO. Reviews all work orders and immediately calls to the attention of thesupervisor any orders which cannot be completed. Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Technical School preferred. Electrical Apprentice Training required. Three years of Electrical Engineering and Engineering experience required. Two years of Hospital Electrician or Powerplant Electrician experience preferred. Registered in the State of Virginia as a Master Electrician required. *ASV*
