Position Description Comstock has a great opportunity for an experienced SEC accountant to join our amazing Accounting team! The Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting will oversee all aspects of the Company s technical accounting and financial reporting process. Responsibilities: Manage the Company s SEC filings and financial reporting process including preparation of the 10K & 10Q s, Proxy, Section 16 filings, earnings releases, consolidations of accounting records, and preparation of supporting audit work papers Prepare internal financial reports and present findings and recommendations to senior management including the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Accounting & Finance Coordinate, plan, and execute the external financial statement audit and interim/quarterly reviews performed by a National CPA firm Research, document and implement all significant/relevant technical accounting standards Coordinate the preparation of annual tax filings with the external accounting firm Provide technical accounting guidance for bolt-on acquisitions and oversee the integration of accounting records and/or software conversions as needed Oversee payroll processing/journal entries and ensure multi-jurisdictional payroll tax compliance Assist with administration of and accounting for employee stock grants in coordination with HR and Legal departments Develop and implement business process improvement initiatives and strategies Hire, direct and supervise the accounting team, including review and approval of journal entries. Cultivate a professional, friendly, and supportive atmosphere Ensure team members understand and promote corporate goals, core values, and departmental responsibilities detailed in the Company org chart and Employee Handbook Assist with various special tasks and projects as needed and directed Qualifications: Bachelor s degree required in Finance or Accounting CPA required At least 7-10 years experience with increasing responsibilities in accounting, including at least 3 years of management experience Prior experience with SEC reporting (preferably using Workiva) and XBRL/Edgar Experience in audit compliance and preparation of accounting procedures Experience with Sun and Yardi accounting software, and software conversions a plus Experience with GEMS Computershare equity management platform a plus Working experience and knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley internal control requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new computer applications Solid understanding of recent GAAP pronouncements Detailed-oriented, organized, and takes initiative Exceptional oral and written communication skills Strong problem-solving skills Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior-level management Ability to communicate with outside investors Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with a high degree of integrity Must hold oneself and others accountable and strive for a high level of excellence Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to fuel growth and innovation Must be customer-focused and results-oriented Must want to continuously learn and develop Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with others Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with strong attention to detail Self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision Physical Demands and Work Environment Spend time sitting, standing, and walking Spend time making repetitive motions Able to use his/her hands to manipulate/control tools and/or objects Work under distracting or uncomfortable noise levels Work indoors in a temperature-controlled environment Respectful of shared workspace and physical proximity with other ONE COMSTOCK, ONE MISSION: Delivering extraordinary experiences in places people live, work, and play.
