Summary

This position is located in DCARO, Office of Analytics and Improvement (OAI), Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE), Woodlawn, MD.

As an Operations Research Analyst in the Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE), the employee performs research studies of performance management, operations and workload issues in the areas of strategic planning, strategic thinking, performance improvement, and business analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Performs research studies of performance management, operations and workload issues in the areas of strategic planning, strategic thinking, performance improvement, business analytics
  • [contd.] using experimentation and innovation to carry out the agency?s strategic planning activities mandated by the Administration and Congress.
  • Develops and presents analysis of controversial matters and performs confidential and sensitive research assignments.
  • Conducts component reviews to identify actual or potential problem areas, trends, and similar factors in program operations and management systems, or potential areas in overall program processes, which are questionable
  • Reviews and analyzes agency proposals to determine policy or process implications, evaluates alternatives, makes recommendations as to changes, and assists in writing reports.
  • Prepares background papers, confidential reports, briefing material and recommendations.

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
    Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must include designing, developing, and adapting mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques. The specialized experience also involves analyzing management problems and providing advice and insight about the probable effects of alternative solutions to these problems. The primary requirement of the work is competence in the rigorous methods of specific inquiry and analysis.

  • A degree in operations research; OR
  • At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
  • TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBSTANTIATE EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION, EVEN IF YOU CURRENTLY HOLD OR HAVE PREVIOUSLY HELD A POSITION IN THIS SERIES OR YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
