This National Guard position is for a Composite Fabricator Leader (Title 32) (Indefinite), Position Description Number D2314000 and is part of the VA 192 AMXS PAS, National Guard.

As a Composite Fabricator Leader (Title 32), WL-4352-10, you will perform the below duties:

1. Serves as a working leader of three or more Composite Fabricator positions. Assigns work orders to specific team members and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Passes on to workers instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work. Insures that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
2. Coordinates planning and scheduling of LO systems maintenance. Responsible for the shop level LOASM program by managing and leading the overall direction of the maintenance effort, enforcing safe maintenance practices, and assembling/managing critical equipment items.
3. Executes plans and schedules for LO systems maintenance. Participates in establishing the monthly and weekly maintenance plans. Attends daily maintenance planning meetings for the purpose of incorporating unscheduled maintenance into the weekly and daily maintenance plans. Establishes and sets Estimated Time in Commission (ETICs).
4. Monitors work of assigned personnel. Sets the work pace, conveys work assignments, and ensures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Coordinates and leads the work effort with Composite Fabricators, WG-4352-10. Observes and analyzes production operations to determine if schedules are being met, exceeded, or delayed and the root causes of production deviations. Ensures assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities.
5. Advises supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).
6. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety and Special Access Programs (SAP) rules, environmental requirements, regulations, and maintains a safe, secure, and clean work environment. Uses and ensures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

GROUP I -All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E-1/AB - E-7/MSgt) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E-1/AB - E-7/MSgt), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.

Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel E-1/AB - E-7/MSgt

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing mechanical concerns
  • Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats
  • Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings
  • Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Skilled in training, mentoring, leading, and problem solving
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 24 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WL-09 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WL grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  • Must have at least one year of specialized working experiences in performing maintenance on B-2, F-22, and/or F-35 aircraft Low Observable (LO)/low signature.
  • Must have at least six months of leadership and training experiences in the military maintenance programs.
  • Must have working knowledge of aircraft structural maintenance, metals technology, survival equipment, and nondestructive inspection methods.
  • Must be competent in providing technical guidance and training to other employees who perform maintenance on Low Observable (LO)/low signature aircraft (B-2, F-22, and/or F-35).
