What does a Senior Finance Manager do? The Senior Finance Manager holds an analytical and hands-on role and is a critical member of our global Finance and Operations Team. In close collaboration with the US Head of Operations and the London Head Office finance team, the Senior Finance Manager is responsible for the finance, accounting, and audit functions of BIT s US and Canadian operations including leading month-end processes, financial statements preparation, contract monitoring, and annual budget preparation. The Senior Finance Manager oversees two direct reports, an Accounts Receivable Specialist, and a Staff Accountant, who handle the day-to-day AR, AP, and expenses transactions. This role is suited for someone who is excited by process, detail, and deadlines and wants to improve upon and develop effective internal controls, guidelines and procedures. The Senior Finance Manager is charged with ensuring these functions align with BIT s goals and values, finding ways to bring greater impact to the finance function. As Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining a high-level perspective on BIT s finance and accounting functions and applying expert knowledge of GAAP and FAR, while conducting highly detailed work on a daily basis. Your expertise will help ensure compliance for contracts across federal, state, city and philanthropic sectors. Responsibilities include: Monitor and maintain internal controls to ensure accounting processes reflect best practices and meet regulatory requirements. Develop high-quality monthly financial and management reports required by Head Office. Support Head Office with the global audit and manage local audit processes, including identifying potential audit risks and implementing actions to address audit findings. Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including: Month and year-end closing, accounts payable/receivable. Lead the planning process of the annual budget and budget reforecast. Review monthly labor and benefit allocation. Manage the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Manage banking relationships and enhance cash management strategies. Prepare or review financial reports for external users. Attend monthly/quarterly meetings with management to discuss the finances of the organization and strategies. Refine financial regulatory compliance policies and design special procedures to assure the accounting system aligns to Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) requirements. Maintain a condition of preparedness for government contract audits. Proactively monitor changing regulations and analyze the impact of new rules to our accounting requirements and financial management systems. Work with external tax advisors on Federal/state/city/sales tax returns. What makes a great Senior Finance Manager at BIT? We expect to provide training and development support in some of the areas. Relevant professional experience in accounting and finance, with an expert knowledge of GAAP; ideally in a government contracting setting and/or professional services firm. Understanding Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards and various areas of emphasis in government audits. In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 / IFRS 15 revenue recognition standards. Deltek Costpoint or Vantagepoint experience is preferred. Experience managing direct and indirect cost segregation, cost pools and allocation bases. Ability and willingness to perform a range of tasks - from audit preparation to monthly reconciliations to assisting with project reports.
