Peraton is seeking a talented self-motivated Principal/Sr. Principal Cyber Security Engineer to join an exciting, complex, mission-focused software development project working with a team of qualified diverse individuals in Fairfax, Virginia. The selected team member will be part of a software development team supporting mission critical systems, and is expected to apply best software engineering principals and Agile engineering methodologies to research, design, develop, and modify software and systems. Job Duties:Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions that results in compelling easy to use products in support of data centric mission critical systemsConducts independent, multidisciplinary research and collaborates with designers and/or engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of data systemsDetermines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systemsWork and participate in a Scrum team utilizing agile methodology best practices to deliver high quality products This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed belowThis requisition may be filled at either a Level 3 (Principal) or Level 4 (Sr. Principal) Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience OR a PhD; An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree requirementExperience in implementing controls in accordance with security policy/guidance (Familiarity with assessment and accreditation (A&A) process)Experience engineering computer/application software to produce a security compliant productDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of security technologies and their applicationAn Active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph security clearance Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience OR a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience; An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree requirementExperience in implementing controls in accordance with security policy/guidance. Familiarity with assessment and accreditation (A&A) processExperience engineering computer/application software to produce a security compliant productDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of security technologies and their applicationAn Active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph security clearance Preferred QualificationsExperience with various vulnerability scanning tools and analysis of resultsExperience with cloud services technologies (eg AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to include design, implementation, or integration.
